Approximately one hundred and sixty nine (169) persons from the communities of Fair View, Crashwater, Rewa and Apoteri, Iwokrama River Lodge, the North Rupununi District Development Board (NRDDB) and the Kanaku Mountain Community Resource Group (KMCRG) participated in consultation during November 22-27, 2019. The purpose of these consultations was to provide information about the ASL project to the villages, as well as, have stakeholders contribute their perspective on barriers, threats and potential opportunities that may arise as a result of the project.

In June 2019, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council approved the Project titled: Securing a Living Amazon through Landscape Connectivity in Central Guyana (ASL project). The EPA and its partners DoE, WWF-Guianas and external consultants are in the process of  preparing the project document. As part of this process, project stakeholders are to be consulted so as to get maximum input in project design.
