Reaffirming its commitment to education as as the catalyst for empowerment and transformation, the Agency conducted its 10th annual training camp in Environmental Education for teachers under the theme “Integrating Environmental Education into the Schools’ Curriculum” during November 13-15, 2019. Forty-two (42) Early Childhood and Primary trainee teachers, along with, five (5) Lecturers from the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE); Anna Regina, Vreed-en-hoop; New Amsterdam; and Linden and Turkeyen centres were beneficiaries of this stimulating learning experience. The training was conducted at camp Alpha on the Soesdyke/Linden highway.
This annual camp which commenced in 2010, originally targeted CPCE’s Turkeyen centre, however, it has expanded over the years to include all 6 centres. The camp aimed to equip participants with knowledge, skills and tools relative to pertinent environmental issues, to successfully infuse environmental education into the main subject areas of the school’s curricula; Science, Social Studies, Mathematics and English Language.
The Agency is strongly committed to education of children who are vital to changing the negative environmental culture.
